Mindfulness of Body: Our Gateway to the Present Moment
Dear Meditators,
In our last session we explored the practice of mindfulness of the body, a fundamental practice that serves as our gateway to the present moment. Why is staying present in our bodies so challenging? When we experience something pleasant, we cling to it, pushing away the present moment. Also, when something feels unpleasant, we try to escape it. This constant push and pull creates a body-mind split.
So, how do we bridge this gap? The key lies in a gentle, curious, and caring approach. So, when we invite ourselves back in our bodies, it needs to be with forgiveness and self-compassion. The breath acts as a great anchor in this process. It helps us recognize when we've drifted away and provides a safe space to return. Simply asking ourselves these two questions can bring insights and deeper truths into your practice:
1. What is happening inside me?
2. Can I be with this?
This journey towards mindfulness of the body is about cultivating a gentle and compassionate awareness of our physical presence. By reconnecting with our bodies, we pave the way for a deeper sense of peace, wisdom, and well-being. Remember, this practice is a continuous journey, inviting us to explore and be present for this moment with an open heart.
Thank you for coming along on this journey of mindfulness with me. Let’s continue to explore the richness of our inner world with kindness and curiosity.
